 Pacheco and Lira want tax reform approved by October

Legislative leaders asked the proposal rapporteur, Aguinaldo Ribeiro (PP-PB), to present his opinion to the joint committee by the top of February

The Minas Gerais senator said that he and Lira will define in February which House the tax reform will begin to pass after passing through the mixed commission. "The expectation is that we'll finish the analysis of the tax reform in six to eight months".

“There are going to be the conclusion of a mixed commission from the 2 houses. If tax reform will start with the Chamber or the Senate, it's an unimportant detail ”, said Pacheco. "Our concern is to deliver these reforms to Brazil," added Lira.


The PP parliamentarian said that he and Pacheco want to proceed with administrative reform and Emergency PEC as soon as possible.


During the interview, the president of the Senate said that he spoke earlier with the Minister of Economy, Paulo Guedes, and said that he had asked for an agenda with the top of the economic team in order that he and Lira could start discussing with the minister “the compatibility of the necessity to possess supplementary benefit with fiscal responsibility ”.

Lira said that the Chamber's commissions are going to be installed only after the carnival which he sees no difficulties for the processing of PECs.


The senator confirmed the expectation of putting in the Joint Budget Committee (CMO) next Tuesday, but said that "it depends on alignment with party leaders".
